Before your unemployment benefits run out, start making preparations and do not wait up to the last minute. Find out if there are Federal extensions. Normally, congress will pass unemployment benefits extension during an economic hardship. If you are eligible, you can file to extend your benefits for a specific number of weeks.

Check into the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or the Federal food stamp and do not be ashamed. Remember that as a worker, you paid into the program and it will be made available to you if you are facing financial difficulties. SNAP can help you supply the members of your family with the food sustenance you need. Furthermore, the WIC or Women, Infants and Children provide financial assistance for milk, baby formula, cheese, juice, cereals and other food that are essential to keep your children healthy.

If you are still out of work and your health benefits have run out, contact Medicaid and inquire if you could be eligible for free healthcare for the whole family or at a discounted rate. You can also ask any church for help even if you are not a member. Some churches provide food banks, clothing assistance, and other charitable programs for the whole community.
